STREET INSPIRATION: SHEPARD FAIREY

STREET INSPIRATION: SHEPARD FAIREY | Citizen Couture

From time to time, you’ll find me posting random inspirational photos that I take while I’m out walking around NYC. I find that there are times where our lives are so busy that we miss out and ignore our surroundings. This public artwork that was displayed a few months ago on a wall around the Meatpacking District caught my attention. I don’t know who the artist is and how long it was displayed on the wall, but I noticed that it was painted over during a recent visit and I was relieved to know that I had took a snapshot before it was gone. I wasn’t prompted to post this photo until I was looking for ideas on interior designs and I thought to myself how amazing it would look if I had printed this on a canvas and have it displayed in my apartment!

Update: Thank you Danielle for informing me that this is the work of Shepard Fairey ( http://obeygiant.com ).

It’s so true – we miss out on things when we’re so caught up on what’s going on in our lives. It’s nice to just pause and take it all in. This would be perfect on a canvas!

I LOVE IT. I also love street art and try to capture these moments periodically.

Great shot! This would look really nice on a large canvas. It’s a shame they painted over it.

i advise caution on showing this piece because Fairey is a copyright freak.

His Obama “hope” poster lawsuit and countersuit with Mannie Garcia is a clear sign that he cares little for other people’s work. At the same time his cease and desist order against Baxter Orr is ironic because Fairey made an entire career of re-appropriating other people’s images.

Inspired and yet the picture is so unique to paint in the street wall the woman wearing hijab.
