Laura and I had the pleasure of chatting the day after I photographed her at the Jazz Lawn Party. I was infatuated with her wooden frame sunglasses by “Waiting for the Sun”, a French fashion design company. What’s unique about these sunglasses is its pure construction out of natural Teawood – a renewable source. Each pair is also handcrafted that offers style and comfort, eco-friendliness and trendiness.
We eventually began talking about similarities in the psychological approach between a photographer and fashion editor. I explained to her that while learning the craft, one of the obstacles was having my subjects feel more comfortable in front of a camera especially if it’s someone I’m meeting for the first time or randomly on the streets. Laura added that as a fashion editor she finds herself in similar situations during interviews and suggested that being more open – almost vulnerable – helps. I suppose both of us being open made the conversation pleasant to the point we were having our pictures taken together. Come to think of it, I wonder who photographed us because I would love to see them!
