The Tweed Run
This year’s London Tweed Run will be held on 6 May. Now in its fourth year, the ride has become a favourite day out for participants, Londoners and spectators alike. As always, the route takes in many of the must see attractions of the city and stops for the traditional midway Tweed Run Tea Break. This year’s event again raises money for World Bicycle Relief. An unmissable evening with renowned designer Oscar de la Renta who will tell the colorful story of his life, from his native Dominican Republic to Spain, Paris, New York, and the top echelon of great American designers. De la Renta served two terms as CFDA president, he has twice won the organization’s Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, and he is a recipient of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. The CFDA at 50: The Presidents Speak – Diane Von Furstenberg
Diane von Furstenberg returns to MFIT to talk about her work with the CFDA—as well as her phenomenal career. She created the wrap dress in 1974. By 1976, she had sold more than a million of them and was featured on the cover of Newsweek. She received the CFDA’s Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 and a year later became the group’s president, where she has dedicated herself to fostering emerging talent. (see details…)
