I participated the Bike MS tour for the first time several years ago and this season will be my third time raising funds to create a world free of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS affects each person differently and many of you may have family and friends who are diagnosed with it. I started my first ride without knowing anyone with MS, but I became more aware of those affected by it when friends were contributing to the cause and telling me they know someone with MS.
Although I don’t have MS, I ride for this not only because I want to, but also because I believe there is hope for anything. I must admit of almost backing out of my first tour due to cold and torrential rain early morning. As I stayed sheltered under a bridge with second thoughts of continuing, I saw two cyclists pushing against the hail, towards the starting point. I watched the wind pushing them back, but they moved forward as though they were climbing a hill. I was inspired by the two individuals and knew I had to complete the tour despite the weather. A few miles into the tour, the storm started to pass and some sunlight glistened the wet pavement. A cyclist looked over to me, shivering and soaked in T-shirt and shorts. He exclaimed, “I guess you didn’t check the forecast!” I smiled back, replied, “I thought it was suppose to be nicer this morning”, and rode off. I finished the tour that day and was glad that those two individuals made all the difference for me.
This season’s tour is held on Sunday, October 21, 2012, a few weeks after I return from Paris.
Thank you to everyone that made this season’s Bike MS a success! Total Raised for 2012 Bike MS: $1,355.00 USD
