BALI, INDONESIA WITH YESIM YUVA YOGA

Some of my most memorable trips have always been the unexpected ones. It doesn’t happen very often, but I think part of the excitement comes from the lack of planning involved. When I got a call in November 2018 for a week-long project with Yuva Yoga Retreat in Bali, I was immediately intrigued. I had just a week to prepare for a 25-hour flight to a destination that I was completely unfamiliar with. Luckily, my responsibilities were limited to arranging my flight times and packing my camera equipment/clothes.

Yesim Yuva of Yuva Yoga Retreat organizes an itinerary of yoga classes and other activities with the aim to help "reconnect to yourself, increase your awareness, open your heart back to love, and discover your spiritual side". The Bali retreat is one of several retreat destinations that she manages annually. Yoga is typically practiced every morning and evening, with various activities or free time in between. Some of the Bali activities include visiting temples, enjoying healthy local cuisines, visiting the beach, and exploring several cultural and spiritual centers.
